Blake - General Insurance Team Manager

"I joined Wesleyan in March 2009 as a General Insurance (GI) Consultant. Eighteen months later I became Acting Team Leader, before moving into my current role of GI Manager in January 2011.

"I manage a Renewals team to ensure the delivery of business targets for GI insurance products. By supporting and developing the team to continually improve on the service they provide, we can maintain a good relationship and retain their business. So by doing that, I feel I'm making a real contribution to Wesleyan meeting its overall goals.

"In return, Wesleyan offers a good deal of support to help me perform in my role. As well as sending me on several courses to build on my management skills, they've also supported me with my CI and CF exams, and I've applied to complete my diploma this year.

"Previously I'd worked for small companies with no opportunities for development. So when the position at Wesleyan came up I thought it was the perfect opportunity to join a larger company where I'd be able to progress, but wasn't so big that I'd disappear within the organisation. Over the next few years I hope to move up the managerial ladder, either in GI or another area of Wesleyan.

"It's a great environment to work in. It's professional, but relaxed and friendly too. That's one of the things I like best about working here - the people. I've made some good friends as well as business relationships. There's a real sense of stability too - that you can have a future here.
