Head Office Recruitment Process

For each role and every applicant we follow a robust recruitment process. This ensures fairness for everyone and means that we recruit the best person for the job. 

Here are some tips to help you through the process:

Your application
When applying for a role with us you'll need to make sure you complete your application fully to give you the best chance of succeeding to the next stage. This will include the following:
  • Please ensure your CV is clear and concise, with all of your employment history, reasons for leaving each role and any career gaps explained. 
  • When completing your CV, consider the role you're applying for and highlight the skills and experience that match the job requirements.
  • Make sure you complete all the requested pre-screen questions correctly. If we don't have all the information required, this may slow down your application.

Next steps
All applications must be submitted online rather than email. 
  • If you're successful you'll progress to the first stage. This will depend on the role you've applied for.
  • If you're not successful you'll receive a standard email. You can request further feedback by emailing

Assessment process
Depending on the role, the assessment process may consist of some of the following; 
  • Telephone interview
  • Competency based interview
  • Ability testing - Verbal & Numerical reasoning tests
  • Psychometric testing
  • In-tray exercise
  • Role play exercise
  • Group exercise
  • Job specific test
  • Presentation
  • Final Interview
The process will be explained to you at the start of your application to give you time to prepare for your interview.

We want to see the best from you. So to give yourself the best possible chance, make sure you're thoroughly prepared.
  • Take time to research the role and make sure that you're confident in your ability to succeed in it. Don't be afraid to ask for more information when you're invited to interview.
  • Learn as much as you can about us by visiting our website.
  • You need to know whether this is the right position and company for you, so don't forget to prepare a list of questions for your interviewers.
  • Relax and be confident - but be yourself. And make sure you know your CV inside out.
  • Make sure that the answers you give during your interview are clear and concise, and think about examples you can use.

Credit checks
We are a financial services organisation so all of our roles are subject to a credit check. We advise you to be honest from the beginning, as this could affect your application. If you're unsure of your financial circumstances you can complete your own credit check online. Anything you discuss with the Recruitment team or manager will be strictly confidential.

It is the Society's aim to recruit the best candidate for each vacancy, and appointments will be determined solely by objective assessment methods relevant to the role. No applicant will be treated less favourably than another on the grounds of age, disability, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation.

Having completed all of the relevant assessments, successful applicants will receive a provisional verbal offer which will be subject to the receipt of Prudential Regulation Authority and/or Financial Conduct Authority approval (if this is a requirement of the role) and satisfactory employment and credit references.
