Meet the Management Team
Dr. Craig Errington
Group Chief Executive
In 1991 Craig joined Wesleyan as a financial consultant. After a meteoric rise through the sales team, he was appointed to the board as Group Sales Director in 2002 and became Chief Executive just three years later. He has since led the company through one of the most successful periods in its history and was named Overall UK Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors in 2011.
My priority when I became Chief Executive was to set a clear vision for Wesleyan and a plan for how we’d achieve it.
Chief Customer Officer
Ten years as an officer in the British Army was great training for when Vicki moved into the competitive world of financial services with Aviva in 2005. Just over a decade later, she joined Wesleyan to run Strategy, Marketing, Communications, Business Planning, HR and the Company Secretariat. In her role of Chief Customer Officer Vicki now leads the company’s customer facing business units, sales force and marketing expertise.
I am passionate about putting customers at the heart of everything we do, so we remain their trusted financial partner.
Chief Executive, Wesleyan Bank
Steve graduated from Exeter University in 1986 with a degree in chemical engineering, but soon discovered his passion for finance when he joined Lloyds TSB. After 19 years there, he came to Wesleyan in 2005 as Operations Director and has since progressed through a variety of roles. He is now responsible for driving the growth of Wesleyan Bank and played a key role in the acquisition of Syscap in 2015.
I believe that people are the lifeblood of our business. Together we can make things happen for our customers every day.
Chief Risk Officer
Roger is an active supporter of the volunteer sector and believes his activity there has taught him more about people than any management course. These lessons in human behaviour have been useful in his role as Wesleyan’s Chief Risk Officer. Prior to 2013, Roger managed Risk for LV=, Aviva and HBOS, while playing an active role in shaping the sector as it increased in importance for financial services. In total, he has worked in Insurance and Reinsurance for more than 40 years.
My team provides foresight, insight and oversight about risk in an increasingly complex and connected industry.
Chief Financial Officer
When Ahmed was named West Midlands Young Director of the Year in 2017, the Institute of Directors judges praised him as “a great role model for future business leaders”. He was promoted to Wesleyan Chief Financial Officer in 2015 after excelling at leadership roles in Finance and General Insurance and this rise through the ranks at Wesleyan impressed the judges. Ahmed’s previous experience includes senior roles at The Phoenix Group and Celestica. He was also Chairman of Business Professional Services Birmingham.
We value and nurture talent at Wesleyan. Every day I see great people, working hard to show that ‘We care’.
With more than 30 years of service, Doug is the ideal person to have as Wesleyan’s Company Secretary. He was appointed in 2014 after amassing unparalleled knowledge and experience in a variety of senior roles, including Head of Actuarial Services, Head of Product Strategy and Development and Head of Risk. A qualified actuary with an MA in Maths from St. John’s College, Oxford, Doug is also responsible for advising the board on corporate governance issues.
I’ve worked with so many talented people here and always look forward to seeing what the next generation brings.
COO and Managing Director, Life and Pensions
Clive’s career path represents the opportunities for change and progression at Wesleyan. He joined the company as Director of HR in 2009, became Chief Operating Officer for Manufacturing two years later before taking up his current role as MD for Life and Pensions. In addition, Clive is responsible for Wesleyan Bank and Practice Plan, and is CEO of Wesleyan Unit Trust Managers. If that isn’t enough, he’s also on the board at Investment & Life Assurance Group (ILAG).
It’s vital to create a positive environment where individuals can flourish. When you have capable and motivated staff, you have what it takes to deliver a great customer experience.
Managing Director, Practice Plan
Completing Harvard Business School’s Executive Leadership Programme gave Andrew fresh insights into building productive teams and driving sustainable growth. He’s putting these lessons into practice as Managing Director of Practice Plan, after Wesleyan acquired the dental membership plan business in 2013. Andrew had initially joined Wesleyan in 2008 as Director of General Insurance following roles at Royal Bank of Scotland, KPMG and Zurich.
Becoming part of Wesleyan is easy when you’re surrounded by smart, knowledgeable and engaging people.
Director of HR & Corporate Services
Caroline worked her way through a variety of managerial and HR roles before being appointed Head of Customer and Employee Experience at Vodafone. Her path to becoming Wesleyan’s Director of HR and Corporate Services helps her to empathise with employees at every level of the business. Caroline has also led HR operations at Santander and GEOAmey.
I take a positive, pragmatic and partnership-based approach to challenging the status quo.
Managing Director, Wesleyan Financial Services
Alan began his career as an army officer, where he learned the importance of great selection. As Managing Director of Wesleyan Financial Services, he is responsible for developing a nationwide team of Financial Consultants. Prior to joining Wesleyan in 2014, Alan set up a direct sales force for Prudential where he implemented a successful new recruitment process and built a team of 200 advisers.
I like curious people with the ability and life experience to engage with customers and understand their needs.
Tim became part of Wesleyan following the 1997 merger with Medical Sickness Society, where he spent eight years in various roles, including Deputy Actuary. He became Wesleyan’s Chief Actuary in 2004, having previously held roles as the company’s Valuation Actuary and Appointed Actuary. A fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries since 1988, Tim has been part of several actuarial working parties and co-authored a number of actuarial papers.
Leading a team of talented actuaries who use their skills to add value across Wesleyan’s business is immensely rewarding.
Managing Director, Commercial Division
In 2016 and 2017, Philip made Leasing Life’s Power 50 list of the most influential people in asset finance. It's recognition for his work as both Commercial Director at Wesleyan Bank and Managing Director at Syscap, following the latter’s acquisition by Wesleyan in 2015. Having worked his way up from Sales Director to CEO of Syscap, Philip has been the driving force behind the company’s spectacular growth over the past decade.
When I started out, I never felt like I was selling to people. I always focused more on understanding their needs.
Managing Director, Investments
Along with managing Wesleyan’s £7 billion investment fund and contributing investment news and analysis to the company’s podcast and YouTube channel, Robert is also District Councillor for Bishopton. He joined Wesleyan in 2017 to oversee the in-house investments team having previously managed two multi-award winning global funds as a partner of Quotidian Investments. Robert has also held global roles at HSBC and Morgan Stanley.
The investments team is one of Wesleyan’s jewels. It’s my job to look after it properly.
