Being a mutual isn’t just about having the freedom to do the right thing for our customers – it’s an ethical mindset that shapes everything we do. And it starts with our employees.
The work-life balance
We think having to juggle our professional and personal lives is unrealistic, stressful and outdated. So we actively help our employees strike the right work-life balance.
That starts with flexible hours, which we offer whenever we can. Want some extra holiday? Carry over last year’s, or you can buy some more. Your annual bonus will help with that, while our leading Group Personal Pension will help you plan for the long term, just like we do for our customers.
We’re in Birmingham city centre, so transport links are excellent. If you’d rather drive we can save you money on parking, or you can go one better and enter our raffle to win an on-site space for three months. Winners drive straight to the office and park for free – the raffle money goes straight to charity.See our full list of benefits here

Just the right size
If you have a good idea, we want to hear it. But we also want to give you the right balance of autonomy and support to make your ideas a reality. In that sense, we’re just the right size: small enough to listen, but big enough to make things happen.
Stability and momentum
When you’ve stood firm against 177 years’ worth of social change and market fluctuations, you understand the importance of providing stability – to employees as well as customers. But our experience also means we know a good thing when we see one. From digital transformation to new products and services – all of us are excited about the Wesleyan of tomorrow and we want every employee to play their part.
There’s more to work than your in-tray.
It’s important to us that our employees can walk over to their line manager, or chat to the CEO in the lift. We want you to learn new skills and progress through the ranks. If you find a course or programme relevant to your personal development, we’ll pay for it.
There’s more to work than the workplace.
Our culture is underpinned by the value of “We Care”. As members of Business in the Community, we take our corporate responsibility seriously. Charity, volunteering, skills development and the environment – all of them have a place in our corporate responsibility strategy.
You’ll get an extra day off every year to spend time on a cause that matters to you. If you’re not sure where to start, our teams regularly go out in groups to make a bigger difference in the community. And whether you’re running a marathon or jumping from a plane, we’ll double your impact by matching the money you raise.

The Wesleyan Foundation
Launched in 2017, the Wesleyan Foundation was created to offer up to £1 million in grants each year to charities and community groups across the UK.
This builds on a long history of Wesleyan supporting regional and national charities as part of our corporate responsibility. We’ve raised in excess of £1.25 million in the last few years alone.
The pledge to raise that amount of money was quite something, and the way the Wesleyan team set about it was equally impressive.Paul Faulkner CEO of Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce
